ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Apology campaign will create original media designed to tell the story of the Resolution of Apology to the Native Americans, an important piece of legislation that few people know about. Eye-witness interviews and expert testimonies will create public awareness of a culturally relevant matter and leverage the nation’s present consciousness concerning racism and justice issues through compelling storytelling.
The campaign will inform a grassroots initiative through social media and traditional news outlets. Various aspects of this content will combine with archived footage from the past 20 years of activities to create “episodes” that chronicle the journey and ultimately conclude with a White House Rose Garden ceremony.

TRAGEDY AND OPPORTUNITY
We are in a season of breakthrough right now concerning injustice toward Native Americans, and it’s time to deal with the nation’s unfinished business.
In 2009, Congress passed the Resolution of Apology to Native Americans (a strategy that came out of the prayer movement), and President Obama signed it into law. What happened next, unfortunately, was a great tragedy.
Instead of receiving the attention and notoriety appropriate for a national apology, it was hidden from the public eye and, more importantly, from Native Americans. It should have been a moment of great healing, but instead, it made the historic wound worse. Now, after more than a decade, it’s time to complete what remains unfinished.
