Our Story

Justice House of Prayer DC is an evangelical missions organization that serves Washington, DC, and the nation through ongoing prayer, worship, and strategic activism. We are committed to interceding for national leaders as we seek to see spiritual transformation and cultural reformation established from the governmental gate of our nation’s capital. In faith, we declare: “There is a holy hill higher than Capitol Hill.”

The Beginning

In 2004, the Lord led Lou Engle and a large group of young people to fast and pray in Washington, DC, with a focus on the upcoming elections. Out of those initial 31 days of prayer and worship, an unceasing chorus was birthed, and Justice House of Prayer DC was established. Shortly afterward, Matt Lockett and his wife, Kim—who now serve as directors of JHOP DC—moved with their family to join the work.

Who Defines Us

Our hope is in Jesus Christ, the One whom Scripture declares to be “the desire of all nations” (Haggai 2:7). He is worthy of our extravagant love and devotion. Unceasing ministry to the Lord is the center of all we do, the foundation of our unity, and the source of spiritual authority for all our activities.

Local Community

Strategically located in the U.S. capital, Justice House of Prayer DC facilitates corporate prayer, teaching, and training through young adult internships, apprenticeships, and a growing community of local intercessors.

National and Global Vision

By fueling spiritual revolutionaries who champion cultural reformation through lifelong commitment, JHOP DC helps shape America’s future. We pray for God’s wisdom as leaders address critical issues such as religious liberty, national security, the persecuted church, and policies that protect the pre-born. The impact extends globally as God leads us to cultivate relationships across America and in strategic nations.
